My projects with Clockwise Credit Union have offered me the opportunity to be involved in very rewarding work, contributing to something much greater. Our most recent project was to create their annual summary Social Return on Investment Report.

Setup & context

The Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a framework for measuring and accounting for change and this much broader sense of value. Clockwise Credit Union is using SROI to measure what its impact is and where it is making the biggest impact. Then, from this, where it can change and improve.

The challenge

SROI is about value rather than money. In the same way that a business plan contains much more information than just financial projections, SROI is much more than just a number. However, although the survey gathers a wide range of information from case studies, member experiences, feedback and financial information, the data is provided in numbers.

The challenge then is to create a report using this data in a way that it is presented in a visually compelling, read-friendly and interesting way. In addition the report is created by an external organisation.

impact & results

Kai-zen Change for Good CIC, the external organisation responsible for the member surveys and creating the data, were delighted with the final report. Director, Natasha Jolob said, "This is excellent work. I love the way you have translated the technical into a simple human language and ensured important key messages are conveyed."
